Know your rights

  1. The user has the right to have his personality, human dignity and privacy respected, without being able to be discriminated against for reasons of race, sex, morality, economy, religion, ideology, politics or social reasons.

  2. The user has the right to the confidentiality of all the information related to their process, including the secrecy of their stay in health centers and establishments, except for legal requirements that make it essential.

  3. The patient has the right to receive complete and continuous information, verbal and written, about their process, including diagnosis, treatment alternatives and their risks and prognosis, which will be provided in an understandable language. In the event that the patient does not want or is clearly unable to receive said information, it must be provided to the family members or legally responsible persons.

  4. The user has the right to self-determination between the options presented by the medical person in charge of their case, the prior written consent of the user being required to carry out any action, except in the following cases:

    • When they are not qualified to make decisions, in which case the right will correspond to their relatives or legally responsible persons.

    • When not following the treatment it suppose a risk to public health.

    • When the urgency does not allow delays.

    • When there is legal imperative.

  5. The patient has the right to cause voluntary discharge at any time, after signing the corresponding document, except for the cases listed in point 4.

  6. The user has the right to be assigned a doctor, whose name will be made known to him and who will be the main interlocutor with his healthcare team. In case of absence, another team member will assume such responsibility.

  7. The user has the right to use the claim and suggestion channels within the terms established by law.

  8. The user shall have the right, in the event of hospitalization, to have it affect as little as possible on their social and personal relationships. To this end, the hospital will facilitate the widest possible visiting regime, access to the media and communication and culture systems, and religious assistance according to their denomination.

  9. The user has the right to information about the health services that can be accessed and about the necessary requirements for their use.

  10. The user has the right not to have research, experiments or clinical trials carried out on him without information on methods, risks and purposes. The written authorization of the user will be essential.

  11. The user has the right to be issued a certificate accrediting his state of health, when his requirement is established by a legal or regulatory provision.

  12. The user has the right to have a written record of the entire process: this information and the tests performed constitute the clinical history.

  13. The user has the right to know the formal channels to submit claims, complaints, suggestions and in general, to communicate with the Hospital administration. The user also has the right to receive a written response.

  14. The user has the right to receive an invoice, where appropriate, of the expenses and the information that corresponds to that effect.
